PM orders aid to snowfall affected areas in AJK

Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Imran Khan has ordered National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the military and other authorities concerned to provide assistance to snowfall affected people in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on war-footing basis.
The heavy snowfall in some areas of AJK has already caused heavy losses to the lives and properties of the dwellers.
There are some reports of several causalities in these areas due to heavy snowfall and land sliding.
Imran Khan in a tweet on Tuesday ordered the authorities concerned to provide assistance to affectees immediately.
“The severe snowfalls and landslides in AJK have caused misery & deaths. I have asked the NDMA, the military & all our federal ministers to immediately provide all humanitarian assistance on an emergency footing to the affected people in AJK,” stated the tweet.
According to some media reports severe winter has struck parts of Pakistan, with heavy snowfall, rains and flash floods killing at least 46 people across the country.
According to these media reports 17 people have died in Quetta while 13 others have sustained injures recently, mostly when roofs collapsed amid snowstorm.
The casualties include children and women. Authorities also struggled to clear and reopen highways and evacuate people to safer places.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department recently also had issued a warning statement in this connection. According to it heavy rains may trigger landslides and Avalanches in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Malakand and Hazara districts.
: Meanwhile heavy snowfall in Murree has paralyzed live as roads have been closed due to it.
The authorities concerned seems to be miserably failing to reopen the roads in the area. Moreover, the breakdown of electricity in the area is also making the lives of the people miserable.
